and tests in 2 peter .5 perseverance can be seen as sanctification because then follows holiness which no one will see GOD without it and if we fail the tests we have got to go back and complete it .

There are a many things that scripture declares God to be. However, what Jesus says carries the most weight since He is the express image of God. Jesus said, I and the Father are one. Jesus said the Father is Good. John speaks of God being love, light in whom there is no darkness at all.
It is important to know that the scriptures are MULTI-VOCAL. That means there are parts of scripture that show a progression in understanding and development of the revelation of God’s nature. Therefore there are parts that disagree with each other. For example, take the issue of sacrifice. Moses declares that God mandates it, the prophets declare that God hates sacrifice and doesn’t delight in it and Jesus says that He requires Mercy and not sacrifice and the author of the book of Hebrews tells us that Jesus ends sacrifice. This shows a progression of understanding over time, which is exactly the way God works with everyone. It is not enough to cherry pick scripture without understanding that one of the key points of the Bible is that God takes a people that didn’t know Him (complete with their worldviews, cultural influences etc) and takes them on a journey of understanding what He is like culminating in the self revelation of God in Christ. Remember the transfiguration, Moses (Law), Elijah (Prophets) and Jesus (the way, the truth. the life). Only Jesus remained!!
That is really important. Jesus HAS TO BE the plumbline by which we measure scripture. He is the logos of God, the living Word by which we understand the written Word. It is impossible in my opinion to use Moses to tell Jesus to shut up.

I wasn’t cherry picking but showing GODS nature through the whole bible and that He doesn’t change . i have heard statements like “my Jesus and love love love and nothing else and I’m covered for all the sin”, I’m going to do 1 john 1.9 says confess your sin & give it up. Hippy love of the 60s of anything goes was a false love.
GOD did require sacrifice for a time, but prophets declare things which have not happened yet . matt 23. 23 kjv Jesus gave scribes and pharisees a good telling off because they had omitted the weightier matters of the law Judgment mercy and faith. Have a really good day
God’s nature doesn’t change but the Israelite understanding of His nature as the scripture records certainly has changed.
Here is an excerpt from a book I am reading called “Sinners in the hands of a loving God” by Brian Zahnd.
For example John says, “No one has ever seen God,” we could use the Bible to argue with the apostle. What about Abraham? He saw God and shared a meal with him under the oaks of Mamre. What about Jacob? He saw God at the top of that ladder as the angels ascended and descended at Bethel. What about Moses? He met God face to face. What about the seventy elders of Israel? They too saw God on the top of Mount Sinai. What about Isaiah? He saw God “in the year that King Uzziah died…and the train of his robe filled the temple.” What about Ezekiel? He saw visions of God by the river Chebar in Babylon. With these biblical proof texts we could argue with John’s claim that no one has ever seen God. But I can imagine John replying, “You don’t have to teach me the Bible. I know all the stories, from Genesis to Malachi. But no matter what visions, dreams, revelations, epiphanies, theophanies, or Christophanies people had in times past, they pale into insignificance when compared to the full revelation of God that we have in Jesus Christ!” Then the writer of Hebrews chimes in to affirm what John has said: “Long ago God spoke to our ancestors in many and various ways by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son….He is the reflection of God’s glory and the exact imprint of God’s very being.”*8 God has a face and he looks like Jesus.

The Bible reveals Christ but is subservient to Him since He is the living Word, the way the truth and the life. All of our understanding of God’s nature and His ways MUST be understood in light of Christ Crucified. He and only He is the plumb line, everything else in my view is idolatry.
